The Dark
The Light
Of Red, Blue, Green, & White
In the hotel of beauty & might
One more night before I go
To my favorite place, my home I know
A party, they say, that I shall attend
The last night here, should be one which I want no end
I see my friends by the water’s meet
On a dance with fun, and of so sweet
Popular songs that topped the charts
To Spanish ballads I know from heart
But then I see her on the floor of dance
Which makes my heart start to prance
Her dress, a shadow in the light
Her hair, soft gold that shimmered though the night
In this gala, where many eyes would see
The only eyes that locked, was her & me
As the music played, and the disco went on
Me & this lady continued along
“From the east,” she said
“And I am from the west.”
I seemed like this night might be the best
In the center we stood, the ring around us
Our mates and her friends cheered, all full of trust.
But at the peak of our gala, I noticed a change
She was more with her friends
And I was alone, just with my mates
In Fortitude I lacked, and in diffidence strong
I could not chat with this lady, despite doing no wrong
In somber I stood, and melancholy high
I left the dance without saying goodbye.
I fled into the night, to my quarters I stood
And I was gone, never to find
The woman I saw, who I wanted to be mine
To the west I returned, and the east she stayed
And thus we departed, as now my vision of her fades.
